The World without the Internet
If I say that the internet revolutionized the way we live and how we do things, then pretty much, everyone will agree. Communications have been stretched to its limit. Try to analyze it, the internet is always in used in whatever we do. Ordering foods, there goes the internet, buying new home entertainment set, go to an online marketplace, sharing moments with friends, sending pictures over IMs, there goes your social networking sites.
Even in businesses, the internet has a big influence in it. Majority of the businesses these days don’t even need a physical store to run. All it needs are software and programs become operational such as a backlink checker tool, analytics tool and everything in between. Whether you like it or not, this is what’s happening now.
The Dark Days
Back then, you had to go to a newsstand just to be updated with the current events. Nowadays, taking few clicks here and there and you can read local paper and any sources from anywhere in the globe that’s being updated by the minute.
Even the internet changed the Internet. From the time of its introduction, it’s just a static network that’s designed and programmed to shuttle small bytes of data or simply, short messages between 2 terminals. It was actually a repository of data wherein content was being published and maintained by programmers.
These days, there are terabytes or even more of information is being uploaded, downloaded and sent over the web.
When the Revolutionary Features Initiated
In the 80s and 90s, the internet started widening its scope in encompassing capabilities of IT universities as well as research centers. It wasn’t that long before it took over as well of institutions, public entities and even private enterprises worldwide. This has really pushed the internet to advance exponentially. It wasn’t just a “state controlled project” anymore. It has become the biggest computer network that the world took part in. It is comprised of over 50000 sub-networks, 4 million systems and staggering 70 million users and counting.
And with the emergence of web 2.0, the internet wasn’t just focused on the exchange of information. It was an advanced multidisciplinary tool that allows the public to communicate with each other, create content and even escape reality.
